CONTINUED DEVELOPMENT OF STANDARDISED MEASURES FOR THE ASSESSMENT OF WELSH

Research Project Support Officer (0.8 FTE)

Starting Salary £23,566 p.a. pro rata.

 

Applications are invited for the above part-time (80%) position funded by a grant from the Welsh Assembly Government for the ‘Continued Development of Standardised Measures for the Assessment of Welsh’.  The successful applicant will work under Prof. Virginia Mueller Gathercole in the School of Psychology and Dr. Enlli Môn Thomas in the School of Education. 

The successful applicant will be required to have native-like fluency in Welsh and in English.  The Research Project Support Officer will assist in the development of assessment tools, will carry out considerable data collection, will conduct data analyses, and will assist in writing up results and in preparing the final versions of tests.  The Research Project Support Officer must have familiarity and experience with statistical packages (e.g., SPSS, Excel) for analyses, and it is desirable that s/he has experience working with children and in conducting experimental studies.  Experience and competence working on the computer is required.  Familiarity with psychological and linguistic terminology is desirable.

It is preferable that the Research Project Support Officer be a university graduate (with a background in Psychology, Linguistics, Speech Therapy, or related field), although applicants who have not yet graduated may be considered. 

The post will begin on April 1st 2010 or as soon as possible, and will continue until March 31st 2013, although this end date is subject to change.
